Moadra Energy Guide: Plasma, Pulse, Explosive and Hyper Weaknesses
Compare actual barrier and enemy scan clues with weapon energy descriptions, including exposed weak points, armor piercing and Phaser penetration.
Which energy names are actually used?
| Scan clue | Examples in the scan table | Ability text to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Emerald Plasma | Emerald Tunnel Barrier, Emerald Blockage | Alpha inventory entry |
| Pulse / Concussive Energy | Pulsating Blockage, Electric Jumper, Vaporoid, Blightoid | Protopulse inventory entry |
| High Explosive Energy | Armored Barrier, Armored Blockage | Protocannon inventory entry |
| Hyper-Energy | Hyper Blockage, Hyper Barrier, Octarmoda | Hyper Rush inventory entry |
This is a cross-reference between two descriptions. It is not a measured effectiveness chart. Use the obstacle matcher to save a lead only after identifying the actual scan entry in your run.
Does aiming at the right part matter?
The Emerald Tunnel Barrier and Armored Blockage specifically name their luminous section. Alvus’s scan clue distinguishes a protected exterior from vulnerable tissue inside its mouth. The Armored Sporecaster description says its underside becomes exposed while airborne, at the same time it releases corrosive pellets.
The actionable lesson is to read body-part wording before testing a damage type. A correct energy fired into protected exterior may not reproduce the intended interaction. The scan text does not give animation timing or safe firing windows; those still need gameplay observation.
Are armor piercing and target penetration the same upgrade?
No. ArmorPiercingPickup says armor-piercing properties are fused to all Blasters. PhaserGist_inv instead says Blaster projectiles can pass through and penetrate targets. The Spire inventory entry separately describes a spike that pierces walls or obstacles.
Those three claims should not be collapsed into “every weapon passes through every shield and wall.” Protopulse and Protocannon explicitly name shield destruction in their own descriptions; that is separate evidence again.
Which environmental chain reactions are worth investigating?
The Blightwing scan describes volatile liquids in its eye sensitive to Concussive Energy. The Volatile Flight achievement names using a Blightwing to defeat other enemies. Together they suggest a testable chain reaction, without proving one exact setup. The achievement guide also lists exploding resource containers as a distinct kill condition.
Read the survival systems before testing around environmental damage. Keep target, body part, attack, result and current upgrade state together in your notes. A failed attempt without those details cannot distinguish a wrong energy from an inaccessible weak point.
What is still unmeasured?
Damage values, resistance multipliers, range breakpoints, hit counts and DPS remain unverified. No tier list is inferred from animation names or Blueprint variables. Every comparison above comes from a named databank record, and observations in your build should be tracked separately.
